I do not recommend this tax preparer. My return was a simple W-2 with Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Credit. I was quoted a $150 fee in person, but after filing I learned that significantly higher fees were set to be deducted from my refund. When I asked for a written agreement and a detailed fee breakdown, no documentation was provided. I have repeatedly requested a copy of the signed agreement that is being claimed, and it has not been produced. My questions have gone unanswered for over a week, and I have been directed to SBTPG instead of being provided the documentation I requested. This lack of response and failure to provide basic documentation is unprofessional. SBTPG processes payments and does not set tax preparation fees, yet I have not received any explanation or proof supporting the fees being charged. I have records of my communications showing repeated requests and lack of response, and I have filed formal complaints regarding this matter. I also consulted another tax preparer who advised that the fees being charged for this type of return are unusually high. If you choose to work with this preparer, make sure you receive and keep copies of all signed agreements and fee disclosures before filing.
