Client Reviews of David F. Dearing, EA

I was referred to David by a friends co-worker who said he had used David successfully with great results, but from start to finish the process took over a year and that his communication was terrible. I spoke with David and David said he could help out with my back tax issues, and had me send a check for retainer and sign a power of attorney to get started. After a few months went by I called to see how things were going with no return call after leaving a message. Knowing that his communication was bad, I set a schedule to call him once a month at his office and cell phone. After nine months went by with no return contact, I started emailing and calling every few weeks, which then turned into weekly attempts at around the one year point with no return contact. I then sent a certified letter asking for a return of payment, to which there was no response, so I gave up and moved on. I thought about a civil suit, but with the time involved it would have taken to prepare and take off from work I would have been money behind, so I let it go. That was over two years ago and I still have not heard anything from him or his office. My new CPA, in the process of working on my account, had asked the IRS if any contact had been made, and apparently David's office had asked for documents for discovery within a month after they received my check, but no other contact had been made with the IRS in the year I was trying to reach him or anyone in his office. In summary, he took my money and ran. I have read other poor reviews of him on the BBB website with similar situations, and I can only hope that karma catches up to him at some point.

Dave has been doing my families taxes for a few years now. I trust him and plan on having him continue to do so in the future.

If I could give negative stars I would. This man took my money saying he was contacting the IRS to get an OIC for me. He claimed he had submitted and was waiting to hear back from them. He has not returned my calls, texts and emails for A YEAR, and I recently discovered after talking to the IRS myself that he NEVER SUBMITTED the papers in the first place. He is a fraud and I am suing him in civil court. Go to someone else, or speak to the IRS yourself.
